Saigon after Nha Trang
Once again, we’re back in Saigon, after a short trip to Nha Trang. I think the beach at Vinpearl in Nha Trang is probably one of the best beaches in the world. Once I get back to the US, I’ll post some photos to prove it to you. For your information, the flight to Nha Trang took about 45 minutes each away — a very nice commute for a two-day trip.
In Nha Trang
We’re in Nha Trang at the moment. We arrived at roughly 7AM this morning and immediately went on a tour to four different islands from 9AM to 4PM. We got a chance at snorkeling at the first island, tubing with wine at the second island, relaxing on the beach at the third island, and visiting the acquarium at the fourth island. The fee for this tour was 100,000 dong, plus roughly another 60,000 dong for tickets at each stop, which came out to be about $10 per person. The weather was gorgeous. It was fun and I’m now all tanned up, adding to the previous effect from Phu Quoc.
Still in Saigon
Because of the storm, we’re still staying put in Saigon. Too bad – the weather sucks for the last few days, forcing us to remain mostly in Saigon. We’ve been going to Sao, a popular cafe in Saigon, MTV Theater, a lounge where local singers come to perform, and local clubs like Gossip and Phuong Dong. The liquor there is all fake, so if you want real liquor, you’ve got to go to liquor vendors, where they allow you to taste the liquor before you buy. I’ll give you the name of the place later, since I don’t have it at the moment.
Back in Saigon
We flew back to Saigon yesterday at 830PM, because Michael needed to meet up with some friends. JZ and Dan stayed behind in Hanoi to continue their trip to Sapa, Hue, Danang, Hoi An, and other places. They’ll meet up with us in Nha Trang next week.
Cat Ba Island
This is a very nice island (roughly 20 sq km, so I was told), composed mostly of mountains, green terrain, and water. It’s gorgeous. If some tycoon gets his hands on something like this, it would turn into paradise on earth. Actually, there’s already Paradise Island (owned by a Korean) in Halong City. But I’ll tell you about all this later, with pictures, of course.
